Sammie Bryant

Sammie Bryant of Campbellsville, son of the late Coy Bryant and Eula Grant Bryant, was born August 1, 1930, in Adair County, Kentucky and departed this life at 10:44 P.M., Thursday, October 25, 2018 at his home in Campbellsville, Kentucky. He attended the First Church of God on Hillcrest Drive in Campbellsville and attended services regularly and enjoyed the fellowship of his Church family.He served his country honorable in the United States Army in 1954 and was stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict.   He was proud to serve his Country and was granted an honorable discharge on March 12, 1962. Sammie was an employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville for approximately thirty-seven years and was retired from this place of employment.Sammie’s favorite past times were fishing, hunting and gardening as long as his health permitted. He also loved to work in the yard and enjoyed the beauty of a weed free lawn and beautiful flowers. Sam is survived by his wife, Shelbie Jean Clark and they united in marriage on June 28, 1959 at Campbellsville Christian Church by Minister Paul Bohrer.  Also survived by one son, Steve “Buckwheat” Bryant and fiancée, China Nolley of Campbellsville and a daughter, Susan Halliday and husband, Duane of Frankfort; two grandchildren: Drew Bryant and companion, Tasha Goodman of Campbellsville and Sarah Bell and husband, Jordan of Charleston, South Carolina; one step-great-granddaughter, Darby Halliday of Ruskin, Florida; chosen son, Robert “Boo” Cowherd and wife, Deanna of Campbellsville; three brothers and two sisters: Keith Bryant and wife, Connie, Noel Bryant and Shirley Seaborne and husband, Roy of Campbellsville, Robert “Bob” Bryant and wife, Marilyn, of Memphis, Indiana and Cleo Burress of Mt. Washington; one sister-in-law, Priscilla Thomas and husband, Shelby of Lebanon; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Coy and Eula Grant Bryant and his father and mother-in-law, P.
