Nancy Jane Buchanan Roution

Nancy Jane “Jane” Buchanan Roution passed away on April 24, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. peacefully in her sleep at CNRC where she had resided since 2020.   Born June 13, 1933 to the late Fred and Evelyn Buchanan in Campbellsville, Kentucky, Jane was raised in Campbellsville along with her two brothers and one sister.  Her father was a local businessman and her mother was a nurse in Campbellsville.  Jane graduated from Campbellsville High School in 1951. Jane was married on February 20, 1954 to William “Bill” Roution.

The couple spent time in Indianapolis, Indiana while Bill worked at concrete construction and Jane in a veterinary clinic.  Bill and Jane had four children:  Brian, Barry, Brad and Alicia.  The family would settle back into Taylor County around 1964.  Bill created his own concrete construction company while  Jane was a stay-at-home mom.  A lifelong animal lover, Jane also volunteered at the local animal hospital and SPCA.   Jane began working at Taylor Count Hospital in 1977 as a patient care aide until retiring after 35 years of service.  Spending most of her years at TCH in Labor and Delivery and even catching a few babies.   Jane was known for her detailed work ethic, dedication to patients and jovial attitude.  After retirement, she stayed at home with patients to provide daily care until 2017.

Jane showed pure love and devotion throughout her life to God, family and country.  A true patriot, she proudly sent all three sons to Camp Lejeune to be trained as United States Marines.  Jane and her mother’s love of nursing was passed down to her only daughter.  With great enthusiasm, Jane would follow college basketball each year as an avid UK Wildcats basketball fan throughout her life.   Jane was also active in her church and loved Bible study.  After retirement, she enjoyed group travel throughout the United States.  In 1999 at age 66, Jane started classes at Campbellsville College and continued until 2002.  Granny Jane also adored all her grandchildren and cherished spending holidays and birthdays with family.

Jane is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 46 years, William “Bill” Roution.  Also preceded by her parents, brothers and sister, Frederick Hoskins Buchanan, Evelyn Cheuvront Buchanan, Billy Joe Buchanan, Robert Buchanan, Thomas Buchanan and Betty Gaye Buchanan Lowe.

Jane is survived by her four children, six grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and a host of extended family and friends.  Brian, wife, Cheryl, sons, Joe and John Roution; Barry, wife, Jill Roution, Barry’s son, Barry Tungate and fiance’, Amber Phillips; Brad, wife, Lori Roution and daughters, Emily, husband, Elijah, their daughter, Goldie Smith Madeline Roution, fiance’ Aaron Long and Alicia Roution, Stephen Noel, Stephen Noel’s son, Jake Noel.

Pallbearers are Joe Roution, John Roution, Billy Joe Lowe, Barry Tungate, Jake Noel and Elijah Smith

Honorary pallbearers are Mike Mattingly, Doug Chelf and Aaron Long

Services will be on April 28, 2024 at 2:00 P.M., at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home.  Family visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. with public visitation from 11:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M..  Burial will be at Merrimac Cemetery.
