Melvin Johnson of Knifley, son of the late Robert Johnson and Lela Allen Johnson, was born September 13, 1942 in Casey County, Kentucky. He died at 2:15 P.M., Monday, March 24, 2025 in Knifley. Age 82.
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Knifley Christian Church where he had served as a Deacon for many years.
Melvin was a retired knitting room supervisor with Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville.
He loved fishing and spending time with his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.
Melvin united in marriage to Lucille Hood July 31, 1964. Besides his wife, Lucille Johnson of Knifley, Melvin is survived by one daughter and one son: Mary Kay Cox and significant other, James Biven of Campbellsville and Joey Johnson and wife, Jennifer of Danville; seven grandchildren: Nathan Cox and wife, Victoria of Knifley, Makayla Young and husband, Brandon of Greensburg, Andrea Patterson and Don and Markiesha Yocum and Zack of Danville, Justin Carter and wife, Tara of Columbia, Jonathan Armstrong and wife, Jennifer of Florida and Allen Johnson; twenty-three great-grandchildren; one brother and two sisters: Shelby Swafford of Tennessee, Larry Johnson of Indiana and Wanda Sanders of Liberty; two sisters-in-law: Louise Stearman and husband, Wayne and Sheila Dunham; his fur baby, Porsche; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Melvin was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Christina Miles; two brothers and five sisters: Lilburn Johnson, Wayne Johnson, Louise Parker, Edith Campbell, Daisy Miller, Phyllis Cox and Shirley Cox.
