Laverne “Blondie” Speer of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Alford Smith and Munervia Loy Smith, was born July 20, 1930 in Adair County, Kentucky. She died at 1:35 A.M., Monday, December 7, 2020 in Campbellsville. Age: 90 She was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville and a homemaker who enjoyed gourmet cooking and entertaining. She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Greensburg Baptist Church. Laverne enjoyed walking, exercising and attending her prayer group. She especially loved music and her pets. She is survived by two daughters: Beverly Pike and husband, Paul of Campbellsville and Patty Durrett and husband, Bobby of Greensburg; four grandchildren: Chris Newton of Campbellsville, Kevin Shirrell (Alisa) of Campbellsville, Julie Thornton (Brent) of Bowling Green and Jason Shirrell (Sharon) of Campbellsville; three step-grandchildren: Allen Pike (Christy), Brandie Anderson (Chris) and Justin Durrett (Megan); ten great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Sue Jessie of Elizabethtown; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
