Ethel Nelson

Ethel Nelson of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Vernon Russell and Elizabeth Nelson Russell, was born June 12, 1938 in Cass Lake, Minnesota. She died at 10:45 P.M., Wednesday, February 19, 2025 in Campbellsville. Age: 86

She professed faith in Christ and was a long-time member of Good Hope Baptist Church and First Baptist Church in Rochelle, Illinois. Ethel tried to set a good example and was always active and a willing worker at church; she loved planning social and church gatherings and had taught Sunday School for several years.

Ethel was a retired bookkeeper, seamstress and a homemaker. 

She united in marriage to Frank D. Nelson June 19, 1954 and he preceded her in death March 22, 2005. 

Ethel is survived by three daughters: Debbie Janzen of Campbellsville, Lori Nelson and husband, Greg Long of Geneva, Illinois and Cheryl Rerko and husband, Tim of Batavia, Illinois; four grandchildren: Bryce Nelson Blatz, Kyle Edward Blatz and wife, Ellen Anderson, Geddy Ann Rerko and Nelson Timothy Rerko; one sister, Dorothy Thompson of Florida; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by one brother and two sisters: Francis Russell, Marie Smith and Louise Russell.

The family chose cremation and a graveside service will be held at a later date.
