Frances McVay Russell Sprowles of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Winslow Nelson McVay and Lula Pearl Holt McVay, was born April 20, 1928 in Taylor County, Kentucky.
She died at 10:29 P.M., Saturday, October 7, 2017 in Campbellsville. Age: 89
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Frances was a people person and enjoyed attending church programs with family and friends.
After moving to Bluegrass Way, she was eagerly involved in the many activities offered, especially the morning devotionals, bingo and rook. When she was able, she enjoyed feeding the birds and working in her flowers and had always had a green thumb. She was an avid UK fan and wouldn’t miss a game on TV; she even dressed up for them. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband of thirty-one years, George and family. After his death, she looked forward to being reunited with him.
Frances united in marriage to George H. Sprowles on September 1, 1973. He preceded her in death on June 5, 2004 and she loved him dearly until her death.
She is survived by one daughter and three sons: Lana Helm and husband, David, Mike Russell and wife, Joyce, Stephen Russell and wife, Linda and Eddie Sprowles and wife, Vickie of Campbellsville;six grandchildren: Shana Crabtree and husband, Allen, Dana Dudgeon and husband, David, Brian Helm and wife, Marcie, Isaac Russell and wife, Rebekah, Bridget Helm, and Trevor Sprowles; seven great-grandchildren: Molly Crabtree, Colin Helm, Andrew Helm, Aidan Cox, Ethan Cox, Keegan Cox, and Avery Cox; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Bobby Sprowles, and two sisters and a brother: Dorothy McVay Richerson, Ella McVay Moss, and Russell McVay.
