Velma Prince of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Jesse Rafferty and Maudie Wise Rafferty was born June 4, 1949. She died at 3:50 P.M. Wednesday, May 31, 2017 in Columbia. Age: 67
She professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist Faith.
Velma spent many years working at Fruit of the Loom; she earned a Bachelor Degree in Business from Campbellsville University after the closing of the plant and later retired from Monumental Life Insurance Company.
Although working in her flowers brought Velma much joy, it did not compare to the pride she felt while watching her grandchildren play sports.
She is survived by two sons and one daughter: Scott Herron and long time companion, Tracy Holmes of Campbellsville, Jay Herron and wife, Rebecca of Lexington and Dana Talley and husband, Mike of Columbia; eight grandchildren: Kristian Herron, and Katelyn Herron of Elizabethtown, Christian Talley of Lexington, Lauren Talley of Columbia, Jackson Herron and Olivia Herron of Campbellsville and Caden Herron and Beau Herron of Lexington; one step-grandson, Brayden Burton of Lexington; one great-granddaughter, Paizlee Linton; several nieces, nephews and cousins and many other relatives and friends.
