William Toy “Tweetie” Powell, Jr. of Campbellsville, son of the late William Toy Powell, Sr. and Ida Betsy Stone Powell, was born January 3, 1933, in Union County, Kentucky. He died at 12:59 P.M., Thursday, December 22, 2016 in Campbellsville. Age: 83
He was of the Holiness faith and attended Jesus Name Church.
He served his country honorable in the United States Navy.
Tweetie was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville and he and Betty spent many years as caretakers of Miller Park. He was also the owner of Powell’s Coating.
He united in marriage to Betty Yates September 2, 1969.
Besides his wife, Betty Powell of Campbellsville, he is survived by four sons and tthree daughters: William Toy “Butch” Powell, III and wife, Ashley of Greensburg, Danny Lee Powell and wife, Dorothy Jean and Kalah Brann and husband, Bruce of Henderson and LaRhonda Webb and husband, Danny Joe and Debbie Sharp of Campbellsville, Steve Sharp and wife, Tina of Henderson and Terry Sharp and wife, Edna of Lebanon; ten grandchildren: Shiann Powell and Cheryl Brockman of Campbellsville, Madelyn Powell, Addison Powell and Daniel Joseph Webb of Greensburg, Jason Brann, Phillip Brann, Sara Nordhoff and Christy Lyons of Henderson and Linda Totten of Roberts; four step-grandchildren: Jennifer Sharp of Henderson, Amanda Morris of Evansville, Indiana, Michael Lowery of Florence and Adam Pittman of Lebanon; sixteen great-grandchildren; two sisters: Claudia Mortis and Betty Stone of Corydon; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Tweetie was also preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Brann and two brothers and two sisters: Marshall Powell, Reuben Powell, Jewell Roy and Florence Wilson.
