Dr. James H. Wentworth

Dr. James H. Wentworth of Campbellsville, Kentucky, son of the late Mattie Wentworth Greenwood and Frank P. Wentworth, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2016. He was born in Bedford, Kentucky on May 22, 1937. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley DeBord Wentworth, March 2002. Brothers: Paul, Harry and Charles Wentworth and one sister Judy Stanley. He was a member of Spurlington United Methodist Church. Jim served as head basketball coach at Wesley College in Dover, Delaware for 40 years. He was awarded Wesley Professor Emeritus; inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame at Lindsey Wilson College, Pfeiffer University, Wesley College and the Delaware Sports Hall of Fame. The Wesley College gymnasium is named the “Jim and Shirley Wentworth Gymnasium.” He also received Wesley College President’s Award for Excellence and Performance and a Doctorate of Public Service. Survivors include his wife, Deborah, son Chris (Sarah); stepsons, Stan McCubbin (Brandy) and Todd McCubbin (Liz).
