Thomas Wayne Johnson

Thomas Wayne Johnson of the Mac Community, Taylor County, Kentucky, son of the late Eugene Hiestand Johnson and Barbara Jean Wayne Johnson, was born June 20, 1949, in Taylor County. He died at 6:15 A.M., Monday, February 29, 2016 in Campbellsville. He was 66 years old. Wayne attended the Nashville Diesel Mechanic College and had been a member of the National Guard. He was a former factory bus operator and mechanic. In 1973, a tragic accident left him a quadriplegic. He endured for nearly 43 years, never complaining of the circumstances of his life. Wayne was very intelligent and devised a number of gadgets to assist him and those who cared for him. He enjoyed talking on the CB Radio and eventually became a Ham Radio Operator. He was a member of the Central Kentucky Amateur Radio Club. His call sign was KQ4PL. He knew how to fix anything and enjoyed working on computers. He professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Mt. Roberts Baptist Church. He was a devoted fan of UK Basketball and an avid follower of politics and was a proud supporter of the Democratic Party. He is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Judy Johnson of Campbellsville; two nephews: Josh Johnson and Jeremy Johnson of Campbellsville; two uncles: R. D. Johnson and Edward Wayne and wife, Lucy; two aunts: Stella Morrison and Margie Sheets; two great-nieces: Shelby Martin and Ashton Johnson; two great-nephews: Tanner Martin and Jacob Johnson and many other relatives and friends.
