J. Lynwood Kessler

June 20, 1921 — February 6, 2016

J. Lynwood Kessler of Campbellsville, son of the late S.V. Kessler and Lena Dixie Henderson Kessler, was born June 20, 1921, in Green County, Kentucky. He went to be with the Lord at 1:15 A.M., Saturday, February 6, 2016 in Campbellsville. Age: 94 Mr. Kessler was brought up in the Pleasant Hill Community as a farm boy until he volunteered to serve his country honorably in the United States Army during World War II. He was discharged in January 1946 as a T4, of the Company E, 3258th Ordinance Base Depot and John Deere Battalion. Lynwood joined Kessler Implement Company in 1952 and became owner and operator from 1963-1978. He served the community in the implement and farming business until 1978 when his health started to decline. Mr. Kessler was elected to the Campbellsville City Council in the late 1950’s and was instrumental in the building of the first City Hall building in Campbellsville. He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Campbellsville Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and on numerous Committees. Lynwood and his wife, Margaret served as Voluntary Missionaries in the 1980’s in Arizona to the Yaki Indians and on the Old Mexican Border to Winter Texans and in Hispanic Churches, teaching the message of Christ through English, farming, sewing and cooking. He united in marriage to Margaret May Sanders February 20, 1947. They spent fifty three and half years together until she preceded him in death August 28, 2000. Mr. Kessler is survived by one son and one daughter: Jim Kessler and wife, Cathy of Trussville, Alabama and Marlynn Martin and husband, Alvin of Brandon, Mississippi; five grandchildren: Megan Grieser and husband, David of Trussville, Alabama, Emily Kessler of Troy, Alabama, Nelia Martin Toups and husband, Todd and Christopher Martin of Brandon, Mississippi and Ray Martin of New Orleans, Louisiana; six great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law: Harold Rafferty of Indianapolis, Indiana; two nephews: John Kessler and wife, Julie and Bobby Kessler and wife, Joyce of Campbellsville and many other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by one grandson Tim Martin, one brother and one sister: Wayne Kessler May 3, 2003 and Emily Rafferty June 27, 2008 VISITATION: 6:00 - 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home. FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville by Dr. James Jones, Rev. Brad Lauer, John Kessler and Billy Perkins BURIAL: Brookside Cemetery with full Military honors by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard FAMILY REQUEST EXPRESSIONS OF SYMPTHAY BE DONATION TO AMERICAN MISSION BOARD OR ONEIDA BAPTIST INSTITUTION AND MAY BE MADE AT PARROTT & RAMSEY FUNERAL HOME.
