Douglas White

March 7, 1921 — May 5, 2015

Douglas White of Campbellsville, son of the late George W. White and Grace Hosmer White, was born March 7, 1921, in Bell County, Kentucky. He died at 7:05P.M., Tuesday, May 5, 2015 in Campbellsville. Age: 94 He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Soule Chapel United Methodist Church. He was awarded three Bronze Stars and the Good Conduct Medal as he served in Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe during WWII and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant in the United States Army. He was a retired farmer and was awarded the American Dairyman award. He united in marriage to Edna Shreve October 25, 1947. She preceded him in death November 4, 2011. He is survived by one son, Danny White of Campbellsville; one son-in-law, Fred Phillips of Midland, Texas; three granddaughters: Michelle Cockrell and husband, Kip of Weatherford, Texas, Danielle Bedingfield and husband, Jeremy of Midland, Texas and Amber Ervin of Brownwood, Texas; five great-grandchildren: Jonathan Bedingfield, Kymberly Bedingfield, Hunter Cockrell, Kaden Cockrell and Isabella Ervin; one sister, Ann White Tucker of Horse Cave; special cousin Nolan Gilpin Jr., and special friend Buford Wilson of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
