Lieutenant Colonel Retired Edith Virginia Knox of Campbellsville, daughter of the late John C. Knox and Alice Leona Moore Knox, was born in Springtown, Arkansas, August 13, 1927. She died at 3:39 P.M., Sunday, May 11, 2014, in Campbellsville. Age: 86She professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Kilgore, Texas.She was also a member of the Campbellsville Rotary Club and The Army Nurse Corps Association.She served her country honorably for some twenty-two years in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War and retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. She was a registered nurse and served in Korea, Vietnam, Germany and many other venues.She was awarded the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, and the Legion of Merit Medal.After her retirement from the Army, she served as National Director of Blood Services for the American Red Cross. She traveled extensively around the world and visited every continent.She is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Margaret Ann and Rev. B. C. Gillispie of Campbellsville, a number of nieces and nephews and many friends.She was preceded in death by one sister, Evelyn Keedy.
